Artist: Patricia Melekus

Patricia Melekus likes to capture abstract feelings and express dreams and ideas through objects in her art and the various mediums she uses. Creating an artwork is an exciting process and she likes to involve the audience and have them participate in this journey. In each and every painting she hides an Eiffel Tower, to involve the viewers and engage them to explore all the little details that she meticulously creates.

A highly prolific artist, Patricia developed an interest in art at an early age. She studied under Julius Koller in her native Slovakia where she grew to define her signature style of modern surrealism, an art form that draws upon psychoanalysis, free-association, and dreams for inspiration. As a multifaceted artist, Patricia came to the United States almost two decades ago and continues to work in watercolor, ceramics, oil, acrylic, and mixed media in large format. She intricately weaves symbolism into each of her pieces as a way to convey her message to the viewer. Additionally, she is an accomplished musician, playing piano and harp, a clothing designer, and a doll maker.

Patricia holds a master’s degree in business administration and is a member of the American Watercolor Society, the Illinois Watercolor Society, Water Street Studio and the Naperville Art League (NAL) where she served as Board President.  Patricia is a Board Member and currently serves as Director of Exhibits. She is the recipient of numerous awards including best of show at NAL’s Public Art Competition.
