Past Exhibition dates: February 2021 – March 21, 2021

Artist: Susan Steinhafel

Susan Steinhafel grew up in Utah, with the grandeur of the mountains, canyons, and desert – an ideal backdrop for a photographer’s canvas. She has a degree in Fine Art from Dixie University and a degree in Advertising, Commercial Design and Photography from Utah State University.

In this show, Susan turns our thoughts to a brighter reflection of the dichotomy of these times to encourage energy, focus, and hope. She wants to convey the message that creativity can be a refuge in times of shadow, and that it carries the optimism of sunshine.

“Our current world situation it is filled with moments of sunshine and shadow. This penumbra casts a shadow like a partial eclipse on our lives. However, we know this will soon pass and we will recover our sunshine that was dampened by this world event.”

The diverse mediums shown in her artwork demonstrate the many ways to convey the exploration of photography, monoprinting, and other elements of design.

Susan founded and directed a program to promote the artists of the Cedarburg Artists Guild (CAG) called “Art on the Move”. She was also on the board of The League of Milwaukee Artists (LMA) as their Exhibitions Chair.

“I am passionate about the arts. The League of Milwaukee Artists has given so many artists the outlet to show their work, enhance their abilities, and support their interests. I am proud to be a part of both art organizations.”

She has lived in Wisconsin with her family for 40 years. Her husband is a third generation family member at Steinhafels Furniture. They are active members of the community and she involves herself in many charities and clubs in the area.
