Quiet Places by Don Hinrichs
Exhibition dates: September 12 – October 17
After two years at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and 40 years in commercial art, both in an advertising agency and at an advertising art studio in Milwaukee, Don Hinrichs devotes much of his time painting close to home.
Painting landscapes and lakescapes, especially along the Kenosha waterfront, Don paints loosely from photos he has taken. His favorite medium is watercolor, but he spends an equal amount of time with acrylics. Lately his favorite areas to paint are around the sand dunes with its tree and rock formations and sand paths everywhere. Don likes to paint variations of favorite scenes, returning again and again to experiment with colors and composition.
“Most of my young years were spent at the lakeshore either swimming or fishing and I guess I can’t get it out of my system.”
Don Hinrichs is a part of the Anderson Arts Center’s Area Artists Group with rotating shows throughout the year.
