Summer Art Camp July 5-9

For children 8-12 years old.
$110/camper for the full week, all supplies included.
Camp is limited to 12 students, register early!  Each week for 8-12 year olds is the same, choose one for your camper!

The camp will take place at the Kemper Center’s Faulkner Building located at 6501 3rd Avenue, Kenosha, WI 53143. The Faulkner Building is a small square one-story building at the north end of the Kemper Center in the back parking lot. It is the furthest northeast building you will see when you park behind the Kemper Center.

DROP OFF & PICK UP: To ensure safety, all campers must be in the Faulkner Building at Kemper Center (6501 3rd Avenue) at least 5 minutes prior to the start of class. Parents/guardians must sign in and out every day.

Each weekday morning – Art and Nature Journaling
For one hour each morning, campers will create a journal using art and words to develop a sense of mindfulness by looking closely at the world around them. Taught by Juli Janovicz.

Monday – Anime Character Development
Design your own anime character and create illustrations. You will learn how to draw bodies to actual character development. Taught by Shatresse Simmons.

Tuesday – Creating Intuitively with Nature/Found Materials
Campers will have the opportunity to create one or more pieces of art using natural or found materials from the beach or bits and pieces found around the home or outdoors. Taught by Colleen Steenhagen.

Wednesday – Meditative Art Through the Senses
Campers will engage the senses (sight, smell, touch, sound, taste) and discover what something like smelling lavender while listening to a thunderstorm in the Amazon rainforest might inspire them to visualize and create through collage. Taught by Donna Schroeder.

Thursday – Cartooning
Learn how to draw cartoon characters, develop a storyline, and create a comic strip. Taught by Janette Hill.

Friday – Hot Mess Studios
Create your own fluid pour canvas project and hot mess style Jackson Pollock-inspired piece using paint launchers and paint balloons! Taught by Katy Wallner.

BEHAVIOR CODE: The Anderson Arts Center reserves the right to ask disruptive children to leave the class. The parent or guardian will be notified and asked to come pick up the child if deemed necessary by the teachers and/or staff.
CAMP SNACK: Please provide a snack and drink daily for your child to have at our mid-session break. It can get hot and the children will not always have access to a water fountain.
DRESS CODE: Some of the art classes offered will be messy. Please make sure your children dress accordingly or bring a smock. All rooms are air-conditioned, remember sunscreen or bug repellant if child is sensitive.
PROJECT PICK UP DAY: There will be many odd sized projects to be picked up on the last day. Please allow extra time on this day. Bags may be provided for some items. Any lost or forgotten items will be kept until August 31st at the Anderson Arts Center.
CAMP LOCATIONS: The classes are held at the Kemper Center lakefront campus: 6501 3rd Avenue, Kenosha. Since the weeks are limited to 12 campers, the classes will all be in the Faulkner Building, in rain or shine.
CANCELLATION POLICY: We reserve the right to cancel a week due to low enrollment. All participants will be notified in advance and refunded their fees.
REFUND POLICY: All class fees include supplies and are non-refundable unless the class or camp is cancelled by Anderson Arts Center.

The instructor will be wearing a mask and all students are required to wear masks. Class registration will be limited to 12. All precautions for social distancing will be enforced.
